Where the route goes:

The route begins in Náměstí republiky where the second residence of Bohemian kings used to stand. It continues through the ancient Celetná street. The world famous gem of cubist architecture, Dům U Černé Matky Boží (House of the Black Madonna), is waiting for you here. In this building W.A.Mozart was staying when he had introduced the premiere of his opera Don Giovani and in this street he was astonished by the street musicians greatly playing the melodies from the Marriage of Figaro which had not become famous in Vienna but in Prague. At the end of this street you will find yourself in fabulous Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square) where you were likely to meet Franz Kafka, Max Brod, Franz Werfel a century ago or Albert Einstein writing his ideas down a few decades later. In this spacious square you will see churches, a town hall, lines of historical Renaissance houses and also the world rarity - the Old Town Square Astronomical Clock. Through Karlova ulice (Charles Street) you will enter Karlův most (Charles Bridge) where the panorama of Prague Castle suddently appears. The bridge leads over the river Vltava, it is decorated by a line of stone sculptures and it acted in the films with Tom Cruise or Barbara Streisand. On the opposite side of the river the way continues towards Malostranské náměstí (Lesser Town Square) with the gem of the Baroque architecture, the cathedral of St. Nicolas, which had been model to many European Baroque domes. The Royal Route finishes by slight climbing towards one of the largest world castle complexes - Prague Castle. And finally from there the unforgettable view of Prague and the complete way you had walked are waiting for you.

We will be pleased if the Royal Route enables to experience new adventures to you and if it puts yourself in the times, when royal processions were passing through Prague and when people were celebrating the new king, who they layed their hopes on.
